Jul 15 2013 Submitted by anonymous: This item is NOT Coin Silver! And! It is not 16dwt EACH! The 16 DWT refers to the amount of silver in the whole set. The whole set contains 16dwt or about 3/4 Troy ounce of silver worth of plating. It's just a fancy term use by some manufactures for a heavy silver plate, comparable to triple plate or quadruple plate. And the amount of silver in a 12dwt or 16dwt knife or spoon from one manufacture would not necessarily be the same as a similar item from a different manufacturer. So, 16dwt silverware is in no way quantitative and does not really indicate how much silver is on a particular item...it's just a "buzz word" that let's you know that the silver plating is heavier than most. A nice item...but shouldn't be listed misleadingly as coin silver.
