I believe age to be 19th century, This came out of as estate her in Maine and belonged to a woman in her 90's.
It is made of iron and has beautiful lines
Bird measures 3' 1/2 " inches long
fully closed clamp is 4 " 1/2" inches tall
fully opened clamp it is 5" 1/4 inches
