The handle is an ash pole, kiln dried, 2" in diameter with a minwax golden oak stain sealed with a coat of gloss urethane The single flue iron was preferred by some and was still found in whaleship's inventory through the 19th century The tip of the harpoon is an exact copy taken from a collection owned by Captain Joshua G. Baker, circa 1900
