The back of the portrait has a black onyx backing with flowers made of Inlaid Mother of Pearl
This is a typical sort of miniature being produced in Paris circa 1880-1910
They are usually copies of known portraits of the late 18th century or earlier and painted in watercolor on ivorine (false ivory)
