Circa 1850, this handled bookbinder typeset or typeholder is marked "W. O. Hickok / Harrisburg" in an oval or football shaped stamp It is made of heavy cast brass with a decoratively turned mahogany handle It opens up to a maximum width of 5" The base where the type sits measures ~3/4" x 5/8" Overall width is ~ 11" from tip to tip of the thumbscrews, and it measures ~ 9 1/2" from the top to the bottom of the handle
