I would estimate it dates circa 1920s or 1930s
The widest distance across, which is every other corner to every other corner, measures 17 1/4 inches (43.8 cm)
From corner to little twisted piece side, it measures 15 1/2 inches across (39.4 cm)
It protrudes out from the ceiling 4 inches (10.2 cm)
I'm not exactly sure what it's made of, but it's very heavy
