This hand cut and shaped cast iron scale was made by the H. Smith Jr
Company of Middleton Connecticut during the 19th century
In one position it measure 0-10 pounds in 1/10th pound increments and in the other it measures 10-50 pounds in 1 pound increments
There is a cylindrical weight that is moved along the 20" long beam to determine the weight of the item hanging on the hook
