The most legible part is located in the center "GR 329" with an "18" to the left and a "14" above They were first made in England during the mid – late 18th century, for measuring ale and other spirits in pubs They range in size from ½ pint to 2 or 3 gallons (presumably the larger ones served groups of customers) The use of such labels began in the late 18th century 9.75" height top of handle 6.5" base diameter 4" spout length 1.9lb weight
