An excellent chef, known for pies with fillings made from berries harvested on his property, he very much enjoyed a fine repast in the company of friends A. 1953, co-sponsored by The Brooklyn Museum, and the Renwick Gallery’s Craft Multiples (ca.1975) He may have gained an understanding of manipulating materials from his father (an industrial welder) as Emil accompanied him doing home repairs and simple creative projects
