5.8 cm long trepan head (courrone) for antique French cranial brace-type drills (trepans)
Will probably fit any French 19th century trepan with a 5mm square shaft, whether Charrier, Collin, Luer, Mathieu, and others
Has been tried and fits properly on earlier and later Charriere 19th century trepans and appears identical to the courrone pictured in the 1903 Collin catalogue
Assembled, it is of 25.5 mm diameter, which is the diameter of the depth stop outside the teeth
The depth stop inner diameter is 21 mm
The diameter of the circular saw is 20mm, thus it would drill a 20mm diameter hole in the skull
Joseph-Frédéric-Benoît Charrière (March 19,1803 – April 28,1876) was a Swiss-born French manufacturer of surgical instruments
