I believe that this ring is a Roman Legionary ring dating from the 1st-5th century
Used by soldiers of Roman legions as a form of identification and as a sign of profession
So search for 8(space)1/2 for a size 8 1/2. The international sizes have NO spaces i.e. 18.5mm
