An interesting group of three various 18th/19th century metal spectacles, one with original metal case The gold plated spectacles with the flat topped rims have bended side arms and circular loops that press against the temples above the ears and could be used for a cord or a chain They have a maximum width of 4 5/8 inches (116 mm) and the side arms have a total length of 5 1/2 inches (140 mm) The eyes measure 1 3/8 inches (35 mm) and the space between the lenses is 1 inch (25 mm) These are dating to the 19th century The solid brass spectacles with round glasses and flexible arms have a maximum width of 4 3/8 inches (112 mm) and the side arms have a total length of 4 inches (100 mm) The eyes measure 1 3/8 inches (32 mm) and the space between the lenses is 1 1/8 inches (27 mm) These might date to the late 18th century The folding spectacles have circular loops that press against the temples above the ears and could be used for a cord The black rings around the lenses (made of turned horn age split) indicate that these were used by someone with a medical profession They have a maximum width of 4 7/8 inches (123 mm) and the side arms have a total length of 6 inches (152 mm) with the folding arms expanded The eyes measure 1 1/2 inches (31 mm) including the black horn ring and the space between the lenses is 1 1/8 inches (29 mm)
