The handle is round 2 1/4" in diameter burnished cedar pole with two coats of gloss urethane
The shaft is 3/8" diameter steel with a cast aluminum tip, the rope is 1/4" pure manila whipped with black nylon cord
His harpoon was called "the most significant invention in the history of whaling and used by virtually every whaleman"
