I believe that it was used for weighing produce (based on the shape of the bin, opposite the weights platform)
The size is approximately 17 1/2" tall (at its peak) and the heavy base is 12" by 5 1/2"
The distance between one end and the other end (side of the bin to the far side of the base) is 20" and the whole unit is around 17 1/2" deep (the width of the produce bin)
