Maggini Copy 4/4 Violin Circa 1890 - Superb Tonewoods, Recent Setup
Extremely Well Preserved 19th Century Instrument
J ust back from the fine folks at La Maison du Violon Olivier Pérot in Montreal, this 19th Century violin is in perfect playing order
The fiddle is a late 19th Century Maggini copy, likely by the Paulus workshop in Saxony
The fairly large size of 370mm is common to Maggini copies, as well as originals
Vibrating string length is the normal 327mm, and the neck stop is 130mm
The neck and string scale dimensions will feel normal in the player's hands, even though the size of the body is slightly larger than most 4/4 violins
Looked like a 17th Century violin from the outset
Gold plated Martin Handcraft Dansant trumpet, circa 1930 w/ extra engraving
Grafton plastic alto saxophone circa 1952
