The 3.75 inch handle and the underside of the 2.75 inch diameter mushroom are lacquered in black
The handle separates 1.25 inches from the end to reveal a .25 inch opening for the storage of sewing needles
There is one spot about 5/8 by 1/2 inches, on the side of the top where the tartan pattern is worn off
