If you have an instrument that's marked "Made in Germany" or "Made in Czechoslovakia", it's definitely not a Stradivarius The law stated that any items imported into the United States had to be labeled with the country of origin So if you have an instrument that includes a country of origin, it is not a Stradivarius Many "fake" Strads say "Made in Germany" - and none of these are an authentic Stradivarius Inside says "Antonius stradiuarius cermonensis faciebat anno 17 Made in Germany " looks like a paper label Tens of thousands of violins were made in factories and workshops throughout Europe, all bearing the label of Stradivari So after all is said in done you do have a real antique knock off violin made in Germany sometime around the turn of the century
