Here's a nice, small Zapotec CLAY FIGURE HEAD PENDANT, ca: 300- 700 AD found many years ago at Monte Alban in Mexico's Southern Highlands
It's only 5/8 in. (1.7cm) tall, 5/8 in. (1.7cm) wide and 5/8 in. (1.7cm) thick
It's obvious the holes were not drilled but made by a twig or stick while the clay soft before firing
